I am rarely blown away by photos, but the range in this one is truly amazing, it really does have a feeling that it could go on forever. And the contrast between the foreground and the background is great.
Well, it's not your usual "blow my mind" quality, but this was a tricky lighting situation....such bright red highlights and such deep dark shadow. Seems to me, bright reds seem to blow out as easy if not easier than whites so to have gotten the detail in the sunlit peaks and in the deep shadows says pretty awesome job to me.
There are many times that I take a picture and it's not my first choice for posting, but I post it anyway and I get a good reaction. Cold Crossing [link] was a picture I posted after I'd posted what I'd thought were the better shots. I didn't even think it was that great, but I was digging for something to post and it shot to #1 in my gallery (at the time). I also posted what I call a "snapshot" of two tabby cats the other day and it shot to #3 in my gallery in 24 hours. I almost didn't even post it. Makes me wonder what other pictures I'm sitting on that could be diamonds in the rough. lol!
I know exactly what you mean. My philosophy has been stated in many ways but is essentially, "There is no accounting for taste" or "One man's garbage is another man's treasure". Some of what I thought would be among my best photos get no attention at all and my gallery #1 shots for months was what I considered to be a flat, over exposed shot that at best was just nice to look at. That's why I'm willing to post most anything I have, as long as I judge it to be closely acceptable in focus, etc.
Well, I thought for sure people would like the baby kitty picture I posted last night better than the tabby cat picture I posted the other day.....wrong! Sigh.... I just don't know what people will like or not like.....
I saw that kitty picture but haven't commented it yet. It was awesome though....so incredibly cute. I love the "crybaby" shot too. I had to spread some of my comments around today to try and hit everyone. I've knocked my backlog down by 700 in two days.
I know what you mean....but if we all liked the same things...wouldn't it be too boring around here?
