Waterfall - Punchbowl Falls by La-Vita-a-Bella Waterfall - Punchbowl Falls by La-Vita-a-Bella
Ding dong, the log is gone! Yay!
The first time I photographed this waterfall, there was a log blocking the view. It is now gone, but there is another tree threatening to fall and obstruct the view again.

Punchbowl Falls, Oregon

I'm drawn to this picture very much. I feel peace, I could sit beside the water and watch the fall all day long.

Thank you. This was a personal achievement as I really wanted this shot and the log had just dislodged from blocking the view so I could finally get it. :w00t:

You can actually see the log in another shot of mine 'cause it wasn't completely gone from the scene yet. [link]

Many would say that this is not in the rule of the thirds. My eyes are trained so damn hard to obey that rule and I find it a little alien looking lol. But no two words this shot rocks  Nature at its glory.

With waterfalls, it is hard to follow the rule of thirds because the falls would make the shot too "heavy" to one side. But I actually think there is some "thirds" in this one...because of the rocks and their placement. All I know is that I always wanted this shot, but there was a log in the way for years....but it finally got washed out and I got to the falls as quickly as I could so I could take this before another tree fell.

lol! Yeah, me too! There was another tree threatening to fall down and replace the old one so hopefully it will stay put for awhile. The last time we hiked there, it was raining and the water level was so high I couldn't do shots like this so it just ended up being a hike.

Sounds like the last time I went, except I was determined to at least get some shots. So off went my shoes and socks, I rolled up my pants and waded out. I nearly froze to death, but I got some shots :D

Well, since I'd already gotten this shot recently, I was okay with not freezing my arse off...plus the water was all the way up to where the path meets the rocks and was running a bit swift. I instead took shots of the salmon spawning (by the parking lot) which I never posted. lol!
