Remember last July when I asked for help in naming one of my photos (that would be published in a book) by having a contest to win 500 points? http://la-vita-a-bella.deviantart.com/journal/Name-This-Picture-Win-500-Points-317904368

The book is finally out and on bookshelves!
The book is called Surreal Photography: Creating the Impossible.
It is a how-to book, so every image in the book has instructions on how to create the image from start to finish. My image in the book is one of my infrared images. In the picture above, the finished image is on the left and the original image in on
My Tree is...dead. :(
Six years ago, I got my first taste of infrared. I bought a filter on ebay and attached it to my little Canon Powershot S2 IS and went out taking shots all over town. My last stop that day was at a park with a duck pond. That began my love affair with this tree. Although the tree had been dead for years, it was such a striking contrast to the pond and living trees in the background.

Then I bought my first DSLR and attached the same filter to the camera and went to the pond to see what the new camera would be like. Whoah...very red!!! Such a contrast from the last camera!

Calendar and Contest Winners
My apologies for not getting my calendar up for sale sooner. As most of you know, my house was robbed the day before Thanksgiving and all my camera gear was stolen, so life has been turned upside down since then. The calendar is now done and up for sale at Lulu.com http://www.lulu.com/shop/paula-cobleigh/2013-calendar/calendar/product-20576203.html?showPreview=true
Also, the winners have been announced for the Magic Trees Contest! http://r72.deviantart.com/journal/Winners-Affiliates-November-Contest-Magic-Trees-342344676
Back in the Saddle - sort of
Well, after having all my camera gear stolen, I was reduced to needing something to take pictures with.
So, last night I went and bought a Sony NEX 5N.
It's not a DSLR, but it's got a DSLR sensor in it (APS-C) and it shoots in RAW and has full manual controls (and HD video).
Definitely not even close to what I am used to using, but ya gotta do with what ya got, right!? :w00t:
On a positive note, it's small and light, which means I can keep it with me. :paranoid:
Since it's winter and I am too busy right now to do any traveling, I had to resort to some backyard shooting, so here is my first offering with the new camera:
