Question and Feature

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 7, 2010, 2:37 PM

I have a question...why do people hide comments on their pages?
I understand the occasional hide...you said something you didn't want the whole world reading or someone wrote something you thought was innapropriate.  But I've been to many pages where pretty much EVERY comment is hidden.
Why?
I'm just curious.

When I see a page like that, I always wonder what the person is trying to hide....

Oh, and lately we've been watching Top Gear on the BBC channel.  Dang that show is funny!

Oh, and don't forget...my calendar is up and ready for sale!
You know you want one! :D [link]

Some people apparently don't want 'thanks for the fav' or 'thanks for the llama' on their page. I've heard about one person who hides them all because they have over 100.000 favs and people keep thanking them for the favorites. But there's so much traffic on the page that people are worried about their reasoning for adding their art to their favorites and such.. Dunno if it's true :B

You can change the amount of comments on your front page to only show 5, so no matter how many you get, a person would only see 5 unless they started digging through the pages. It would be nice if dA made the comments on the front page optional like they do the deviations so the people who don't want the comments wouldn't have to hide them and make the rest of us think they are doing suspicious things.
I, personally, have never felt the need to hide thank you's....never even crossed my mind.

I don't want to hide thank you's either. I like 'em and it gives me a good reason to browse their gallery again :dummy:

Also, why not write that down in the Suggestions forum? Sounds like an idea that more people would appreciate

A suggestion forum? Do they really read those? lol! I will try and find it and suggest it. :D

Even though I think the llamas are silly, it does give me a reason to visit a person's page...which has allowed me to find new artists. :D

Thanks for the link! There was already a person who had suggested this two days ago so I added my comment to that one. Is that the right way? I've never posted in the forums before.

Okay! Good! And I'm sure the person who started the thread will be happy with me chiming in because a lot of people were saying it wasn't necessary. lol!
